•   Deep understanding of the biopsychosocial model of pain and how it differs from previous, biomedical models.
•   Explore the connection between psychological, social, and biological factors that influence the patient’s experience of pain.
Pain Science:
•   Basic and advanced knowledge of pain mechanisms, including peripheral and central sensitization processes.
•   Understand the neurobiology and neuroscience behind pain perception and how the nervous system is affected by various pain-modulating factors.
Pain mechanisms and neuroscience:
•   Detailed knowledge of the peripheral and central pain mechanisms and how these influence the experience of pain.
•   Review of the neuroscience behind acute and chronic pain, including neuroplasticity, central sensitization, and neuroimmune interactions.
Contextual factors:
•   The importance of the patient’s beliefs, expectations, cultural and social factors that influence the pain experience.
•   Identify how the therapist’s approach, communication and relationship with the patient can affect the treatment outcome.
Modern research-based framework:
•   How to implement evidence-based principles of pain management in clinical practice.
•   Use clinical reasoning to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to the patient’s unique pain patterns.
Patient communication and education:
•   Development of effective communication skills to explain complex pain mechanisms to patients in an understandable manner.
•   Strategies to reduce fear and anxiety around pain through patient education and coping tools.
Clinical application of the pain model:
•   Practical application of modern pain models and frameworks in various clinical scenarios.
•   Development of tailored treatment plans for acute and chronic pain, including rehabilitation, exercise therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and pain management strategies.
