Frequently asked questions
What makes NIHI unique is our ability to compress the most practical and relevant from educations such as physiotherapy, osteopathy, naprapathy and sports science into an intensive one-year education. With us, we focus on everything you need to work with musculoskeletal disorders, rehabilitation, top athletes and complex patients. In contrast to traditional educations, which often include extensive academic writing, internships and general topics such as children and adolescents, we prioritize clinical relevance and practical application.
With our comprehensive online portal, you have access to all the information and knowledge you need, while our practical collections give you the skills required to become a skilled clinician. If you want to become a researcher or follow an academic career path, this may not be the study for you, but if you want to become a solid clinician who can make a difference to people, NIHI is the right choice.
Approximately 70% of our students are physiotherapists who want to build on their clinical expertise. They find that our education gives them the tools they need to become even better clinicians. At the same time, we attract many students with a background in sports science or personal training, who want a specialized title and more competence in dealing with clients with musculoskeletal problems.
Our goal is to give students the opportunity to help their clients more holistically, without having to refer them to other therapists. Ideally, we want applicants to have an academic background in health or exercise, such as sports science or physiotherapy. However, if you are a personal trainer with solid experience, this program may also be a perfect fit for you.
Our education combines flexibility and structure. The teaching consists of three sessions of one week per semester over two semesters. In addition, you will have access to a comprehensive online portal that provides you with all the necessary information and materials. The online portal is continuously updated with new lectures to provide both current and former students with even more knowledge.
At NIHI, we are committed to building bridges between disciplines, and we offer our students lifelong access to the online portal, so that you can always stay up to date and further develop your skills.
Most of our students work in private clinics, fitness centers or with sports teams after graduation. They use their specialized expertise to help people with complex pain, improve performance and contribute to a pain-free everyday life.
With our education, you get the best of both worlds: expertise in performance-enhancing training and rehabilitation. Our curriculum includes elements taken from master's level from various studies, so you are well equipped to work with everything from top athletes to clients with complicated diagnoses.
Yes, we offer flexible payment options. You can choose between four interest-free installments over 12 months or a 24-month payment plan through Svea Finans. We want to make it easier for you to invest in your education and strengthen your profession.
At NIHI, we are passionate about building academic bridges between different fields while strengthening our own professions. We believe in giving our students the best possible conditions for success, both during and after their studies.
Yes, as a therapist you can apply for insurance to protect yourself against disputes and claims when you receive patients, even if you are not an authorized healthcare professional. Here are some options:
1. Federation membership:
Many alternative therapists choose to become members of associations such as:
- Norwegian Massage Association (NMF)
- The Norwegian National Association of Homoeopathic Practitioners (NLH)
- Norwegian Association for Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (NOFU)
These associations often offer liability insurance and legal support to cover the need for unlicensed therapists.
2. Private liability insurance:
You can contact insurance companies directly to take out liability insurance that covers your treatments. This is a common solution for massage therapists and other alternative therapists.
3. Register for practitioners of alternative treatment:
Registration in the Brønnøysund registers under the Register for practitioners of alternative treatment can strengthen your credibility as a therapist. Certain associations and insurance companies may require this registration to give you access to their insurance offer. Remember to research what suits your practice and needs best! Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
